Tattoo Culture in Aotearoa

In 2015 I started photographically exploring tattooing here in Aotearoa. For someone such as myself who is tattoo free, I have been inspired by my identical twin sister and the intricate artwork she has inscribed on her own skin. The tattoo culture within our New Zealand communities have changed my own preconceived notions around tattooing. Through environmental portraiture I have created a portfolio of images and through my exploration I am discovering that ink means more to individuals than just the imprint on their skin.
